Carolina Community Impact, Inc. (CCI) has launched a new coaching and educational initiative to serve small business owners throughout North Carolina. The service provides business and personal credit reviews, a critique and review of business plans, and assistance with business financial statements.
As part of the program, CCI will leverage its partnership with affiliated non-profit Consumer Education Services Inc. (CESI) to help business owners bridge the gap between managing business and personal finances. Participants in the program will have access to workshops, online resources and one-on-one counseling with CCI and CESI experts.
“CCI, in partnership with CESI, can meet the unique needs of entrepreneurs in under-served communities,” said Joe Battle, manager of the initiative for CCI. “While we will continue to provide business capital needed by small business owners, we are now able to also equip them with skills, tools and knowledge to succeed in both their personal and business finances.”
While the CCI program is designed for all small business owners, emphasis will be placed on reaching low-income and minority-owned micro-businesses. Micro-businesses compose almost 90% of the nation’s businesses and represent an even higher proportion of businesses in low-wealth communities. They are a powerful economic force and path to economic opportunity and financial inclusion.
“We are proud of our partnership with Carolina Community Impact and the opportunity to deliver on our commitment to provide financial solutions in economically underserved areas,” said Mike Croxson, CEO of CESI. “CESI is pleased to provide support to the CCI team and find innovative ways to serve small business owners who experience obstacles to building economic security.
The resources being provided may seem obvious to experienced businesses but putting this information in the hands of new and potential business owners is groundbreaking.”
