Board of Directors

Alexis Nelson – Board Chairman: Ms. Nelson obtained a degree in finance from Robert Norris University as well as a Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Training and Development. With a long career in the banking industry as well as extensive experience in the non-profit arena, Alexis has developed a passion for promoting financial literacy and sustainable wealth building opportunities in the community.
Amy Blackwell – Board Member: Ms. Blackwell joins the Carolina Community Impact board of Directors with extensive experience in healthcare and health policy fields. Over her career, she has served in numerous positions both in the United States and abroad in the areas of Health and Government Relations. Ms. Blackwell holds a degree in Education, German and Psychology as well as a Master’s of Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Doug Miskew- Board Member: Mr. Miskew is the President and CEO of Public Sector Group, LLC and comes to Carolina Community Impact with more than three decades of experience in government service, government relations and public affairs. Mr. Miskew holds a degree from Appalachian State University as well as being selected as an Eisenhower Fellow where he studied the role of business in developing technology and education public policy in both Singapore and Australia

Katie Gailes- Board Member: A graduate of two North Carolina higher education institutions, Bennett College and Duke University, Katie Gailes has over 20 years of professional experience helping organizations develop and implement specialized programs that strategically nurture entrepreneurship. Her career spans working with IBM to starting her businesses and serving on boards tasked with spurring entrepreneurship in rural communities.

Mike Croxson, CEO has 30 years of experience in the financial services industry and has particular skills and inclinations for adapting new technology to meet the needs of consumers struggling with their financial situation. He served as president and COO for one of the nation’s largest and most innovative debt management companies and has held senior leadership roles in the areas of commercial banking, specialty financial services and credit card processing.

Ron Fisher

Ron Fisher – Board Member: Ron Fisher has worked with financial institutions for over 35 years. He has a substantial background in helping small businesses in various areas of banking, lending, and finance. Currently located in Charlotte, NC, Fisher has lived in North Carolina for 40 years. He holds an undergraduate degree in Business and Finance and an MBA degree from the University of Wisconsin.

Advisory Board

Elaine Bryant- Donigan: Ms. Bryant-Donigan is the Vice President of Education for StepUp Speakers’ Circle and joins the Carolina Community Impact Advisory Board with more than twenty years’ experience working in government. Elaine is most interested in working with Carolina Community Impact because it aligns with her passion of offering hope and encouragement for people looking for solutions to turn barriers into milestones.

David Bennet: Mr. Bennett serves as Executive Vice President of Centrant Community Capitol, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the North Carolina Bankers Association, where he oversees all aspects of loan underwriting, membership and Business development activities as well as loan servicing, asset management and strategic planning for Centrant’s affordable multifamily housing loan program.

Clarissa McMathis: Ms. McMathis serves as a Project Specialist with a high-tech communications company where she manages Ethernet projects. As a member of the Southeast Raleigh Community, Ms. McMathis is proud to serve on the Carolina Community Impact Advisory Board and is enthusiastic about the opportunity to help others in the areas of affordable homeownership.

Jess Dorrance: Ms. Dorrance comes to Carolina Community Impact with more than 10 years of experience working in the areas of financial inclusion and Capability. She serves at the UNC Center for Community Capital (CCC) where she manages day-to-day operations and leads the center’s evaluation work. Her research and analysis seeks to better understand what helps promote economic security and mobility for individuals, households and communities.
